<lj:music>Nellie McKay - Feminists</lj:music>

You know? I am pretty sure I don't like Jazz. Like NPR jazz. Just thought I would put that out there.

So, finals are done. I am happy about this. There is one problem...when I am constantly going going going I have a hard time stopping.

Thursday I moped around the house doing nothing at all. I watched a movie on SciFi (I don't how I feel about the SyFy thing.) I played a bit of a game but really didn't want to play that. I feel like it's more of an escape for when I am super busy.
So, yesterday I cleaned my place and went to Jerrod's and started working a gift for him. It is half done. I hope it turns out. More on this later?

It was not long ago that I was in love with my solitude. Right now I want Jerrod to be here. I am still thinking about later...listening to music and working on the gift alone, but I am bored with the quiet right now. I am not used to it anymore.
I am just glad I am starting to grow out of just wanting to play games by myself to pass the time. Now I don't mind taking time out to draw or hang out with roommates or play with the kittens or, hell, even watch tv.

Perhaps it's the energy I have gained. I went from Hypersomnia for about 4 months to a good balance of insomnia and energy. 50,000 IUs of Vitamin D? May have something to do with it.

I like this. I like it a lot. I like spaghetti. I like my new clothes I got today. I like Nellie McKay. She makes me laugh and is WAY beyond cute. My new hero! Like a supercute blonde Sarah Silverman with an amazing voice.

I am also getting distracted by her myspace and the fact that Jerrod just brought me food. YAY!

Haha! Tonight at work I saw two episodes of Law and Order that I knew happened and were extremely important...but had never seen before.
The SVU where Cabot was killed off...but not. And then the Mothership episode where Logan/Mr. Big punches a council man and gets exiled (Funnier still...it was my first Logan ep, and he was in 111). I know nobody else probably cares or knows what the hell I'm talking about, but in the L&O universe...it's pretty funny that I hadn't even seen them, then on the same night. The only uber-important episode I'm missing is when Southerlyn gets fired and then comes out of the closet. Someday...

Anyway. I am at work. I got everything done ages ago and I have one person's meds to do in an hour. Other than that I am bored and I want to go home and sleep/wow, but it's only 6am. It's a proven fact that this is the time of day where time is at its absolute slowest.

It's going to be a good week. ^_^

Things are weird here. Beer and wine are sold in grocery stores, but NOT liquor stores. That's cool, but Dan and I rushed to a liquor store before it closed only to find there was no beer.

I understand it's a "liquor" store, but it's still weird. What is even weirder is that they close at 7pm. Also, there are no 24-hour grocery stores. The latest one is open I think is midnight. Not that I want to get wine or beer at all hours of the night, but I did prefer being able to get groceries at 2am if I wanted...and I wouldn't be bumping into so many damn people.

Also, if you buy any kind of alcohol and they ID you, they still ask if you're over 21. I guess it's because people who go in with fakes to get them in trouble cannot lie. Hm.

Okay, that's one odd thing. Odd thing #2: All gas pumps in Oregon are full service. I started to fill my tank and some guy ran out and took over. He asked if I was from Washington.

This I kind of like because I don't have to loathe getting gas as much since I really have to drive up and sit there. Then again, it's not 40 below here. ND drivers would really benefit from this in the winter, but the poor guys who'd have to run outside all the time.

So, then there are separate convenience stores. IF you are lucky enough to go to one next to a gas station you can conveniently buy brake fluid if you so desperately need. Like I did yesterday.

And the C-stores are called Plaid Pantry, which led me to believe there were MANY fabric stores scattered around in convenient locations in Portland.

Another odd thing. We have a "Wind Advisory" and an "Air Stagnation Advisory". I understand that in the gorge and on top of some of the surrounding cities it's pretty windy, but in the Portland here, we've maybe been having gusts to 25-30mph. Whatev. I still don't get how we could have both advisories at once.

In ND warnings and the like always were canceled before said date and time. Here they seem to get extended daily! I love it...

GAME NIGHT TONIGHT!!! YAY!

I now have heat and light.
My lamp bulb burned out last week and I have had a desperate need for a space heater in my large dungeon bedroom. So, I finally got efficient bulbs and a cheap-o heater. They were out of the one I wanted despite what the website said. I can take it back if I hate it, but it's not too bad.

It was my first Walgreen's experience. I gotta say, much trashier than what I imagined. With my location, though, it's to be expected.

I think I'm going to be insanely lazy for the next 2 days. I have my second interview with Albertina Kerr which is funny because everyone said it was going to be very difficult finding a job here. This is the first job for which I replied and they kept my application until I got here. It pays over $10/hour which is okay, though I was making that at HIT. So, that's on Monday, and class starts too. And then TIM & ERIC AWESOME SHOW GREAT JOB!

So, I am going to do nothing starting now...

You know, since it feels like noon when I get up, but it's actually 10am.

I am on my roommate's computer since I was dumb and didn't bring my wireless card.

Apparently I will be getting it this weekend-ish. The movers called and said they could pick my stuff up on Friday. I'm still waiting to hear from the driver. And I hope to get a damn discount. Because since they didn't show last time I spent a bunch of money on getting my ass here and paying back people who helped. I needs monies bad.

It's tough having a laptop AND a cat on your lap. This cat is so much like a dog. She's an attention whore, hates to be left alone, sits in your lap, wags her tail when happy, and begs for food at the table. She's not evil like they say...just thinks she's a dog.

I probably already have a job here.
I so did not know facebook sent emails. Never ever checked my school email.

Anyway. I am done. Well, moving out of the apartment, that is. Pretty sure Murphy's Law was in overtime yesterday.

First I got up really hungover and tired. I finally get a hold of the movers and they said they aren't picking up my things. They swear that they tried calling me all day on the 29th, but it was busy or something. Yeah...I have call waiting and there is no indication that anyone from the company attempted to call me. They also have my email address that they didn't feel the need to use.

That means all the stuff I was going to load in the truck needs to find a new home...and fast.

We went out to my storage unit to check the snow situation. We barely found a way to get the truck near the unit (shoveling included) and the lock is frozen. Bah! We got it open and we could only fit my furniture in it. All my boxes needed to find a new place.

Luckily about that time, my aunt called and said I could use her garage for now. But we had to find her key and it was around -13 degrees. So, I jumped through piles of snow that were up to my knees. Yay. I searched for about 15 minutes in the dark before anyone came to help with a flashlight. I could no longer feel my feet, nose, or thumbs.

Anyway. My dad and stepdad both helped a lot, but they both had to take off early. So, from about 8 to midnight it was Dan and me doing the rest. We did break to eat, but I forgot my ID so I couldn't have a well-deserved drink.

Poor Dan had to work at 6am. I got up at 9am and we finished the apartment around 11am. I am going to get most of my deposit back and the manager thinks the margarita stain was already there, since the first walkthrough mentioned pink spots! Woot!

I am doing laundry and have quite a list for the next two days. It's not going to be any fun. I can't wait to be at my new place and on the air mattress. Since, you know I can't bring my damn bed! :(

I did get a call from one of the places where I applied for a job. They left a message, since it was during our nap time today. And what a nap time it was!!! I do hope they call me back. I guess it's only 3pm there.

Time to dry my clothes now. Then dinner with pep pep tonight and mem mem tomorrow.

Oh, and btw. I really want to go see Tim and Eric in Portland. I may have to go alone, but it would be worth it!

Oh. And Suckfest '09 was AMAZING!!!

Last few days I keep thinking I hear music. I finally figured out that my clock radio was on...but not all the time.
It was suddenly playing choral Christmas music this morning. I KNOW it was off when I got home or I would have heard it when I came in.

It wasn't on alarm mode either, it was just on radio. I turned it off (not snooze, but OFF).
Then, I turned the TV's sound back on. A couple minutes later the radio was playing again.

I turned on the light and picked it up to inspect and it was still turned off but playing Christmas music. Then, it suddenly turned off while I was holding it. Odd and sorta creepy, but I can handle it.

Whatever it is it likes Christmas, but not JAG. I'm not really sure I like JAG either, it's just background noise.

-------------------------
My cousin and his wife gave me mittens. For some reason when I wear them I feel compelled to do the robot.

In 12 hours I will be on a plane outta here!

I have a lot to do in Portland, but I kinda have a lot of time to play as well.
One day will probably be school stuff and job hunting, one day will be apartment hunting (tho, I have a good idea where I want to live).

It will be a nice break from the bitter cold. Not that this winter has been any worse than most, it's just way colder than I want it to be. AND I'm sick of driving around all these morons. Dan even almost got in an accident the other day because of some middle-aged woman who doesn't know how to turn a corner OR use a blinker.

Most of this week will be 45-50 degrees. :D
Bringing a couple dresses. Though, apparently there will be snow near the end of the trip as the special weather statement...uh...states:
...TURNING EXTREMELY COLD WITH VERY LOW SNOW LEVELS THIS WEEKEND
OVER SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON...

THE COLDEST AIR OF THE WINTER SEASON WILL BE SETTLING IN OVER
SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON AND NORTHWEST OREGON THIS WEEKEND...BRINGING
VERY COLD TEMPERATURES TO THE REGION AND SNOW LEVELS POSSIBLY NEAR
THE VALLEY FLOOR.

And by "extremely cold" they mean 25-35 degrees.

Oi!

In other news. I lost 9 lbs without trying. I think I just forgot about my weight and it just happened. Not like I was trying that hard before. Not like I was even heavy before, but I had put on like 10 lbs and on my frame that doesn't feel all that great.

Anyway. Gonna relax, sleep, and then get the hell out of here!

So, I have about a month to go...

Exciting. I guess.

Today and yesterday I got stuff done. I have to write it down to make myself feel accomplished.

I got a new toy yesterday. I had to reinstall XP and then had problems with drivers including the ethernet. I downloaded drivers on my old pc and put them on this one. Then the nice beautiful graphics card also needed a driver as well as the sound card. The sound card was the hardest to find.

Finally when I was all done with that I applied to credit cards and got really annoyed at the process. Checked my credit and found out it was fine. So. I don't understand, but it's super annoying.

Helped Jill study for a crappy Sociology test.

Today I packed and cleaned. The apartment was shown when I was in the middle of tearing the place apart and doing dishes.

I also looked for jobs in/around Portland. I found a couple that I think will work for me. Too bad they only pay a bit over $10 an hour. I'm hoping to get an awake night shift. Yeah. I may get more money that way. One more week until we fly out there. And so much to do. I want to have much more packed by the end of the week. Oh, and my closet needs to be cleaned out.

I can do this...

Maybe this weekend. I have just had 2 crazy weeks. I want to be lazy today, but I don't.

Today, I already have 40 hours in and I have 12 to go. I could tell them and get 6 days off in a row, but I think I'll take the overtime. Especially since it's gonna be hella expensive to move. Hope someone will pitch in a little. They will be able to use the equipment as well.

I'm getting quotes. Worst possible scenario I would have to tow a trailer with my car for $200-300. I would have to have my transmission checked first. U-haul does free inspections. Yay.

Moving to a blue state will be lovely. I'm getting really impatient.

Dan said I was responsible last night before I went to work. It was confusing, but it was also nice. I got a shit ton of paperwork done last night. I also got all my bills paid, rent paid, and gym membership canceled. All mailed this morning. Very nice.
